Haifa, Nordau-Aliyah Streets

The façades on the right belong to buildings on Aliyah (following his assassination in 1933: Arlozorov) Street, north of Nordau Street and just northeast of Gan Binyamin. Café Gil apparently opened in 1934. The following year it was reported that “Mr. Heinrich Kösten (formerly of Magdeburg) has taken over Café ‘Gil’ in Haifa, Hadar-Hakarmel. Thanks to its large terraces and its vicinity to the ‘Gan Benjamina’ the café offers a particularly attractive and airy ambiente.”
