The synagogue in Sélestat/Schlettstadt , designed by the municipal architect, Alexander Stamm, and inaugurated on 3 September 1890, caused some controversy because it was the first in the region with an organ. Destroyed by the Germans, the synagogue was reconstructed after the war (though without the dome).
